What is Taqti?
Taqti is the process of scanning — dividing a line of poetry into its short and long syllables and matching them against the Arkaan of a Bahr. It is how poets verify that a verse is metrically sound.
Step by step
First, write the line the way it is pronounced. Next, mark each syllable as short or long. Finally, group these weights into feet and compare them with the target Bahr. If they match, the verse is “durust” (correct).
